Both bathrooms in this North Texas home were taken to the studs and below. In the master, we demolished 150 square feet of floor tile, 100 square feet of wall tile, the dated glass-block shower enclosure, the vanity, and every fixture. Then we jackhammered through the foundation to replace the shower drain and relocate the tub drain and water supply for the new layout.

The new master shower is built the way showers should be: lumber-framed pony wall (with a privacy return at the commode), cement board backer, Redgard waterproofing, pan liner, a hand-floated custom mud pan, Schluter trim, and tile set in thin-set and grout, finished with custom 3/8" frameless glass and minimal hardware matched to the fixtures. A freestanding soaker tub with a floor-mounted filler anchors the room. New 8-foot custom vanity with soft-close cabinetry, quartz countertop, three pendant lights, over-cabinet LED accent lighting, new exhaust fan, GFCI outlets, recessed lighting, 180 square feet of new tile floor, and fresh baseboards and paint throughout.

The guest bath got the same construction standard at its own scale: full demolition including 80 square feet of shower surround, foundation work to replace the shower drain, an identical waterproofing stack with custom mud pan and Schluter trims, frameless glass, a new custom vanity with quartz top, new tile floor, lighting, and paint.

Two bathrooms. One waterproofing standard. Zero shortcuts.
